Building a Poem part 2

This week for our poetry assignment, we have to write a poem, and continue building on it the entire week, write a little bit each day. It is supposed to stretch ourselves as writers. So we will see.


So close to the shadows                         02/03/2013
to stepping in the dark
so saturated, a deep well
a barer of wretchedness
and reverberating sorrows,
In body and spirit,
so close to submitting,
longing for a summer
an autumn
a winter
a spring
anything other than this season
of barren lifelessness,
this season of darkness
and confusion which holds me captive,
no stars shine in my abyss

yet tonight there is a moon                                    02/05/2013
full and auroral
casting deep beams into ocean trenches
some glimmer of hope
providing the seaweed its deep green hue
they sway and bend easily
as the boundless currents
push and afflict;
rooted in the dark,
they live and flourish
