you stagger
the State Street stop lights buzz and glow
the stars always keep your secrets
but now they threaten
disappearing with the first
signs of daylight
your horizon, full
of promise, but your back
is turned, walls around your heart
never do you feel the soft pink clouds,
caressing your future
nor feel the first rays of daylight
on your cheeks.
your mind, numbed with the poison,
swallows the pain as the waning night sky
swallows you with its last breath
you're engulfed
smooth silence, deep haze
drunken with dreams of forgetfulness
