The hands of the clock are past
Past the time for opportunity
Whatever you gave
Lies on the table
And time ticks slowly on
Failure echoes in your mind
Each recalled note
Shakes your legs
And once hopeful eyes
Melt to tears
For a moment
You travel in hopeless mist
Finding two roads
Defeat
Or fight
You look at the road of defeat
It is freshly paved
Black asphalt
A gradual decline
Easy walking
other ragged travelers trudge on,
dragging their lost feet
at which they constantly gaze
You look at the road of fight
Traveling through thick, thorny shrubs
A gradual uphill climb
Jagged marble, shale, and limestone rocks
Scattered on the trail
Each step unpredictable
Empty, save a few travelers,
Who examine each step carefully
Whose legs are strong,
Who eyes and determination appear stronger
So now it is up to you
Failure often comes on our journey
It is unavoidable
Leaving us vulnerable, lost, beaten
But as you continue, you have a choice
you must choose which
road to travel from there
Defeat,
Or fight
Will you lay your weapons down,
will you travel the downhill road,
of will you rise to the call of action?
Failure is not defeat,
it is the opportunity to learn to never fail again,
ti charge valiantly into uncharted territory,
brave and determined.
