For the past couple of days I have found myself very happy (despite that yesterday was the holiday that makes single people sad). I have taken this opportunity of an injured hip flexor to really love myself and appreciate my body. So yesterday I took the chance to celebrate myself, and love myself! Yay! Happy Valentines Day to me!!!
Its interesting that Valentines day falls in the same month of Eating Disorder Recovery/Revolution Month. A month dedicated to self love and self appreciation. It is a revolution that is changing hearts and becoming more widespread.
For far too long we have allowed the media; magazines, tv shows, fashion icons, models, etc. to control and DISTORT the way that we as women view ourselves. Beauty has been greatly skewed by photo editing and unhealthy habits. These are messages that the world sends to women that degrade us, and make us feel of no worth.
Luckily God has a much different message. We are all his PRECIOUS and beautiful daughters. He created us, and God does not create "junk". Each of us are unique. We are all different sizes, shapes, colors, heights, weights, shoe size, clothing size, hair length... I could go on forever. But the good news... those things that the world says defines us... doesn't. We are not out hair, our clothes, our legs, our hips, our stomachs. We are not the number on the scale. We are spirit children of God, here on earth, with a beautiful body as a house for our spirits.
No matter what the world says, or what anyone may foolishly tell you - please remember that you are beautiful, and that you are loved by the most intelligent and powerful being in all the many universes. You are a child of God. He loves you, so get out there and love yourself :)
